Canon CanoScan 9000F Flatbed A4 USB2.0
The Canon CanScan9000F is a high end scanner from one of the leading makers of photo scanners. It is feature packed and very versatile. You get crisp and clean documents and bright a vibrant photo’s and everything in between. It is even green for those environmentally minded individuals. It delivers detailed film scans at a whopping 9600 x9600 dpi which is enough resolution to create clear, detailed printed enlargements up to at least 20 x 30 inches. The Canon CanScan9000F features Fare Level 3 which delivers automatic dust and scratch removal as well as fading, grain and backlight correction, Zero warm-up time and lower power consumption with White LED, “Auto Scan Mode" automatically adjusts settings by detecting what you are scanning. The all-new Auto Document Fix feature automatically analyzes and corrects both text and images so your document text will remain clear and your pictures will maintain color tone and contrast. As with most flatbed scanners, setup is easy. Simply install the software, set the scanner in place, unlock the scan head, and plug in the power cord and supplied USB cable. The bundled software is largely focused on photo scanning, with a choice of two photo editors - Arcsoft PhotoStudio 6 and Adobe Photoshop Elements 8. The installation routine also installs both Twain and WIA drivers and Canon's own scan utility. The drivers will let you scan from almost any Windows program with a scan command. The utility includes an OCR module, so you can scan text pages and turn them into editable text. In addition to scanning from a program by using the Twain or WIA driver, you can use Canon's scan utility, which earns praise for its ease of use, or you can use any of 7 buttons on the top front of the scanner itself to start a scan. The button choices include Copy, Email, and four PDF-related buttons - one for scanning in color, one for black-and-white, one custom button that lets you define the settings, and one called the Finish button. To scan multiple pages to a PDF file, you set each additional page on the flatbed and then press the appropriate PDF scan button each time. Press the Finish button, when done. Last and most interesting is the Auto Scan button. It automatically identifies the type of document or photo in the scanner, and then scans and saves it with the factory-default settings for that type of scan. If you like to preview your scans and tweak the settings, you'll probably never use the button, but if you're just trying to get something scanned in a hurry, the Auto Scan feature will do a more than acceptable job. The scanner is very fast (less than 10 seconds from start to finished product for 300 dpi scans) and the results are excellent, that may be because the scanner uses a white LED that brings out the true colors from the print. There were a couple of negative comments by users. One user pointed out that they thought the USB cable that was included in the package was way too short. A few other users were unhappy with the included software package. The bottom line on the Canon CanScan9000F - it is a great scanner. It will do a lot of things that high end scanners will do without the cost. The fact that it is ready to scan in an instant is a big plus. If you are looking for a high end flatbed scanner or a photo scanner in particular, this may be it.
