Canon PowerShot G12

Canon PowerShot G12 Review

  • 4.7 / 5
    • The good:
Handy, Lots of extra accessories, Vivid images
    • The bad:
Not so superior on low lightings

The Canon Powershot G12 is one of the latest innovations in the world of digital cameras with its 10.0 megapixel sensor that is combined with the DIGIC 4 Image Processor both responsible for making quality photos. These photos even look great even in the dark or those places which are barely lighted. It has a 5x optical zoom and a 28mm wide-angle lens as well as an extravagant optical viewfinder all born to be a hero of those shots taken on not so nearby places.

This is actually the latest brand of the G series camera which aims to offer the avid fans a more updated version. It will take their skills to the next level as this is the camera for the advanced novices who want to elevate their knowledge about photography. The decent resolution for video recording has never been more improved with the 720p HD Video of the Canon Powershot G12. These videos taken can also be connected through the mini-HDMI (High definition media interface) in which the digital camera can be viewed in a wider version. Not only that, the video shooting experience is also taken affront through the help of the optical zoom and the autofocus.

So maybe you are thinking that that's all for it. You may be wrong as there are included accessories for the integration of the camera. The photographer is actually like a mother who would not want anything less for its baby. That is what the team behind Canon has thought. That is why it has the underwater housing, the Tele-converter lens, and a lot of other Speedlite flashes which ensure the overall awesomeness of the photos and videos taken. So practically, the Canon Powershot G12 does not have the highest of the high resolution as well as megapixel. But then again, it is quite improved and made better by its add-ons. So those who are addicted to Digital Single Lens Reflex Cameras, but are sick and tired of bringing those big bulky cameras can pretty much settle to this one. Yes, this may not have the same consistency, but it is worth giving a shot.

One thing that makes this camera a sure winner is its very ergonomic remote shutter which makes it possible to shoot even if you are not handling it. Thus, allowing you to take shots of yourself and even be in the picture with your friends and family. However, on the slightly weaker spot, this camera may not really be spectacular enough on low lighting conditions or dark areas as it is so awesome on daylight, portraitures and scenic landscapes. So to be honest, this is not your all around camera. But then if you are always out in the sun and would rather go out in the morning while the sun is up than on the dark when everyone is sleeping, then this is the camera for you. It may look as if its compact body is prone to being fragile and may break easily, but in reality it is sturdy and very durable.

Overall, this is the type of camera for those who cannot bear the thought of having to bring heavy equipment all the time.
